Privacy Policy
Last updated: 23 March 2026
Imgpressor is operated by Adwiz Digital LLP ("we", "us", "our"). This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and your rights in relation to it. By using Imgpressor — the website, the plugin, or the API — you agree to the practices described here.
If you have questions, contact us at hi@imgpressor.in.
1. Who We Are
Data controller: Adwiz Digital LLP
Contact: hi@imgpressor.in
Website: https://imgpressor.in
2. Data We Collect
2.1 Account and Registration Data
- Email address — used to send your API key, billing receipts, and service-related notifications.
- API key — generated automatically and tied to your account. Used to authenticate all compression requests.
- Site URL — the WordPress site URL you bind your API key to. Used to enforce the domain binding security policy and prevent unauthorised use of your key.
2.2 Payment Data
We process payments through PayPal. When you subscribe to a paid plan, PayPal shares with us your payer email address and subscription ID. We do not receive or store your card number, bank account details, or any other raw payment data. PayPal's privacy policy governs the handling of your payment information.
2.3 Usage Data
- Number of images compressed, credit balance, credit reset date.
- Compression request timestamps and file sizes (used for rate limiting and debugging, not linked to image content).
- IP address of the server making API requests (used for abuse prevention, retained for a maximum of 30 days).
2.4 Images You Submit for Compression
When the Imgpressor plugin compresses an image, it sends the image file to our compression API. We process the image and return both an AVIF and a WebP version directly to your server. We do not store, retain, or back up your images after the compression job is complete. Images are held in memory only for the duration of the conversion process and are immediately discarded. We do not access, analyse, or use your images for any purpose other than performing the compression you requested.
2.5 EXIF Metadata
By default, Imgpressor strips EXIF metadata (including GPS location data, camera model, and timestamps) from all compressed images. This is a privacy-protective default. If you wish to retain EXIF data, this option is not currently available in the plugin settings — EXIF is always stripped.
2.6 Website Analytics
The Imgpressor landing page may use basic, privacy-respecting analytics to understand aggregate traffic patterns (e.g. page views, referral sources). We do not use advertising pixels or track individual users across other websites. No analytics data is linked to your account data.
3. How We Use Your Data
- Service delivery — generating and sending your API key, authenticating compression requests, enforcing plan limits and credit balances.
- Billing — managing your PayPal subscription, sending receipts and renewal notifications.
- Security — detecting and preventing abuse, unauthorised API access, and credit fraud.
- Support — responding to queries you send to hi@imgpressor.in.
- Service improvement — aggregate, anonymised usage patterns (e.g. average compression ratio, most common source formats) used to improve the API. Never linked to individual accounts.
We do not use your data for advertising, we do not sell your data to third parties, and we do not share your data with third parties except as described in Section 4.
4. Third Parties We Share Data With
- PayPal — payment processing and subscription management. Receives your subscription details when you purchase a paid plan.
- Email delivery provider — used to send transactional emails (API key delivery, receipts). Only your email address is shared for this purpose.
- Hosting infrastructure — the server(s) running the Imgpressor API. We use industry-standard security practices to protect data at rest and in transit.
All third-party processors are contractually required to process your data only for the stated purpose and to maintain appropriate security standards.
5. Data Retention
- Active account data (email, API key, site URL, credit history): retained for the duration of your account.
- After account deletion: your personal data is deleted or anonymised within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or accounting purposes (e.g. payment records, which are retained for up to 7 years in accordance with applicable tax law).
- Image files: deleted immediately after compression. No retention whatsoever.
- Server access logs / IP addresses: retained for a maximum of 30 days.
6. Data Security
We use HTTPS (TLS) for all data in transit between the plugin, your server, and our API. API keys are stored as hashed values in our database — we cannot recover the plaintext value of your key if it is lost. Sensitive database credentials and secrets are stored as environment variables, not in code.
No transmission over the internet is 100% secure. While we take reasonable precautions, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate data.
- Delete your account and associated personal data.
- Object to processing in certain circumstances.
- Data portability — receive a copy of your data in a machine-readable format.
To exercise any of these rights, email hi@imgpressor.in with the subject line "Privacy Request". We will respond within 30 days.
8. Cookies
The Imgpressor website uses only functional cookies necessary for the site to operate (e.g. session management). We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or third-party analytics cookies that identify individual users.
9. Children's Privacy
Imgpressor is not directed at children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us at hi@imgpressor.in and we will delete it promptly.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email to registered users at least 14 days before they take effect. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of Imgpressor after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
